Earlier this month, my other half and his parents went to visit Wakefield, West Yorkshire. A city that I had never actually considered to be in anyway have an eventful art scene. It offered much more than I could ever had thought. With
Barbara Hepworth's Art Gallery, ranging from many local Artists, is a good place to start.
Though, my favourite spot must be YSP -
Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Luscious Green Fields which stretches across an estimated of 3 miles. Its in door and outdoor exhibition allow you see art in a different perspective and providing with outdoor activities, which the young and the old can both enjoy.
Not to mention, Wakefield is undeniably proud of their Rhubarb. With 3 square miles of fields used to grow Rhubarb. Which, also undoubtedly infamous for their
Forced Rhubarb, which you can find at
the
Rhubarb Triangle, given that it is the right season.
Forced Rhubarb, which I have heard from many people to be grown in a particularly unorthodox way compared that grown on land. Taken away into a shed with warmth and a candle which allows the Rhubarb to grow its stalk thinly upwards. The results was not your normal Rhubarb. Instead it is sweet and crisp. According to the farmers, Forced Rhubarb is only to be found in late Winter. So, unfortunately, we had already missed it. Another reason to head back to Wakefield.
